Economist Films, the video arm of The Economist newspaper, has chosen Twivel to power their new apps for iPad and iPhone. The Economist were already using Twivel to power their Apple TV app which allowed them to release apps for iPad and iPhone with no extra work, simply some basic preparation of icons, launch screen and app configuration.
The app immediately gained featured status in the App Store and received tens of thousands of downloads in the first week.

The Economist will leverage Universal Purchase which means that if the app is downloaded on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV it will be downloaded across all devices. In the future, Twivel will take advantage of this to allow for seamless use of favourites and playback restart across devices.
Using Twivel has allowed The Economist to release their apps for iOS quicker, cheaper and with much less risk than if they had used an external or internal development company.
